Attacks on Muslims' properties in Taungdwingyi Township of central Magway Region are ongoing although Myanmar government claimed the situation is under control.
Local residents told M-Media that some shops in Shweo 2 quarter, Second Ongdaw Street are still being demolished around 10:30 pm by some people believed to be part of the group that was dispersed earlier by police force.
A grocery store in Magway main road is also badly damaged as a result of violence.
Violence started this evening around 7:45 pm when a group of thirty peoples wielding sticks and swords attacked properties of Muslims in Shweo 2 quarter, Second Ongdaw Street and along Magway main road.
The latest statement about the incident, government said that police force had to use rubber bullets to disperse the group of 400 people and arrested a person, adding that an investigation into the incident has been launched to identify the perpetrators.
Security forces have been heavily deployed in the area in order to prevent further mob attack, it said.
